All 9 Characters: Roster and Unlock Conditions

Updated 2026-10-02

On this page

The original nine Blood Dungeon characters are listed below alongside Ana and Yung Venuz, who were added to the Steam version in v2026091805 and v2026093002. The original roster's unlock conditions and global unlock rates come from the official achievement list. The patch notes do not publish unlock conditions or player rates for Ana or Yung Venuz, so those fields remain unknown rather than guessed. Neither addition is confirmed for the console versions here.

Who to expect when

We won't pretend there's a settled meta a week after launch — but between the official description and the unlock data, you can see what comes early and what's a long-term goal.

  • Gun Man is the baseline. Everyone starts here, and there's nothing to unlock — he's who you learn the game with.
  • Leggy spins climbable webs, per the official description — fitting, since IGN's preview confirms Leggy is a spider. His unlock is the most-earned character challenge in the game: kill 50 spiders, which 68.7% of players have done. Webs show up elsewhere too — trapping 25 enemies in webs at once unlocks the Slow Ring item.
  • Leech asks for a fast boss kill (Wyrm in under 30 seconds), which most players manage surprisingly early — 66.1% have it.
  • Baby comes from the Bone Shop rather than a gameplay feat: buy 10 items and it's yours, as 63.2% of players have done. Aftermath's review reports Baby starts with a Magnum and called it "shockingly powerful" thanks to reliably rerolling into better choices. Reaching level 15 as Baby also unlocks the Lucky Chests item.
  • Skinja is the roster's speed option — "speed through the Dungeons as only a Skinja can," per the official description. Messhof co-founder Mark Essen put it more bluntly in IGN's interview: "It's a naked ninja and she's fast." The unlock is a no-damage challenge (avoid damage for 2:00), yet 63.1% of players have managed it. Reaching level 5 as Skinja also unlocks the Extra Choice item.
  • Bug takes flight, per the official description — and the 5-second airborne requirement is the first real cliff in the data: the unlock rate drops from over 60% to 9.2%, so most players never chase it deliberately.
  • Ana gains more luck as she explores more of a map and starts with the new Torch, which burns enemies on contact. She is found in the Bunkhouse's new underground Annex. Her unlock condition was not included in the official patch notes, so there is no verified route to publish yet.
  • Yung Venuz gets more money as he levels up and receives a brittle boost every five levels. He starts with the SMG, which sprays bullets toward the nearest enemy. His exact unlock route and the brittle boost's effect were not published, so they remain unknown.
  • Hypnomancer, Murderist and Krug are the boss-gated trio. They're the roster's late game: each requires clearing a specific boss deep in the arena chain, and all three sit under 7% of players. Hypnomancer fights with a gas attack — per IGN's interview with Essen, it started as mind-control waves and ended up as a "mystical" gas.

If you're deciding what to chase first, the unlock-order guide turns this table into a plan, and the full unlock checklist covers everything else in the game.
