Updated 2026-10-02

On this page

The latest published Steam update is v2026093002, posted on October 1, 2026. It adds Nuclear Throne's Yung Venuz to the Bunkhouse Annex, the SMG and Crossbow weapons, the Boiling Veins charm, the Dodge spell, and associated quests. The official announcement does not publish their unlock requirements or exact upgrade values.

SteamDB's public branch now lists Build 25644478, built and released on October 1. The September 22 announcement's note about temporarily disabling Scepter remains in the official feed, and the new update does not mention it. Messhof has not confirmed that Scepter is back.

Update history

DateUpdateWhat changed
October 1, 2026v2026093002Added Nuclear Throne's Yung Venuz to the Bunkhouse Annex: more money as you level up and an extra brittle boost every 5 levels; starts with SMG, which sprays toward the nearest enemy. Added the unlockable Crossbow, which fires a high-powered bolt at the onscreen enemy with the most health; Boiling Veins, which prevents death from explosions but can still leave you with your last heart; and Dodge, a chance to avoid all damage from a hit that increases with upgrades and is not affected by luck. Added associated quests. The use button triggers Yung Venuz's airhorn for style.
September 22, 2026v2026091805Added Spelunky 2's Ana in a new underground Bunkhouse Annex; Ana gains luck while exploring and starts with the new Torch weapon, which burns enemies on contact. Added Bling Ring, whose temporary blind status makes enemies move randomly instead of targeting the player; Doom Ring, whose doom status kills non-boss enemies after 10 seconds; Coupon Book, which makes every shop cage 30% cheaper; and Eggplant, which can grant a bonus heart when its challenge is completed. Added a Knockback Bone Shop powerup and related quests. Reworked knockback; changed More Blood upgrades to multiply their effects; reduced some late-game enemy HP; capped Bones at 66,666; made various weapon tweaks; slightly shortened Flood's oxygen-bubbler interval; and made the tips toggle hide locked-door bubbles. Coin Finder became Coin Magnet and now pulls in all money every 30 seconds. Scepter was announced but is temporarily disabled while a bug is fixed.
September 14, 2026v2026091401Fixed the Bone Shop reload upgrade and scaling for More Bullet Time, More Blood and More Money; stopped keys spawning in a locked Boiler room and zombies targeting each other; improved Daily timing; paused the game when the platform overlay opens; reduced some later enemy HP; lengthened Bouncer's cooldown; buffed Harpoon; changed Artillery to fire around one enemy instead of targeting several; added empty Drop Site sprites and a Drop Site tips toggle.
September 5, 2026v2026090401Reduced some late-game enemy HP; gated Clean Slate and Life Insurance after a revival; fixed 100% completion and recursive splash damage; improved Map Stamp icons; added Drop Site text; fixed a layer missing crash; buffed Fireworks.

August 25, 2026LaunchBlood Dungeon released on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and Switch 2.

What the Drop Site updates added

The September 3 update explains that Drop Sites are possible locations for special chests. After you collect one, another chest spawns at a different Drop Site. The same update added quests and hub NPCs around the system, and put Map Stamps in the Bone Shop. The September 5 patch then improved the stamp icons and added text at the Drop Site. The September 14 patch added empty-site sprites and a menu toggle for Drop Site tips. The September 22 patch made that toggle hide locked-door bubbles too. The Bone Shop guide explains what the official notes do—and do not—confirm about Map Stamps.

Launch coverage

The launch has also started to receive post-release coverage. PC Gamer's August 24 review highlights the platforming take on the bullet-heaven format, while a September 2 review from Minna no Indie focuses on movement, auto-fire, and the game's drum-and-bass presentation. These are editorial impressions, not official patch notes.

What to do if you hit one of these issues

Start by checking for the latest update available on your platform. The October 1 Steam patch adds content, but does not announce new bug fixes:

  • layer missing crash — listed as fixed in v2026090401.
  • Crashes during long runs — memory leaks were fixed on August 26, and the August 30 update added save backups.
  • Bone Shop upgrades missing after a Daily Run — fixed in the same hotfix.
  • Leaderboard number cut off — fixed in the same hotfix.
  • Completion stuck below 100% — fixed in v2026090401.
  • Bone Shop reload upgrade sometimes does nothing — fixed in v2026091401.
