Blood Dungeon Mechanics and Stats: Luck, Defibrillator, Brittle Boost

Updated 2026-10-02

On this page

Some Blood Dungeon mechanics are never explained in the game itself, so players end up searching for answers. This page collects the ones that come up most — what Luck does, what the Defibrillator does, what Brittle Boost is, and what every line on the stat panel means. Everything here is limited to what the official material confirms: the store description, the 45 achievement conditions and the official screenshots. Where the answer simply isn't public, we say so instead of guessing.

The stat panel, explained

The level-up screen shows a full stat panel next to the card offer. In this official screenshot Gun Man is at level 9, and the panel reads: DAMAGE 115%, RELOAD 105%, KNOCK 108%, BLOOD, MONEY, LUCK and MAGNET at 100%, MOVE SPD and JUMP HEIGHT at 100%, JUMPS 1, all four status chances (SLOW, BURN, FREEZE, ZOMBIE) at 0%, and ENEMY SPD and ENEMY BULLET SPD at 100%.

The level-up screen in Blood Dungeon offering the Uncommon charm Fireworks, with Gun Man's complete stat panel on the right showing DAMAGE, RELOAD, KNOCK, BLOOD, MONEY, LUCK, MAGNET, MOVE SPD, JUMP HEIGHT, JUMPS, the four status chances, and ENEMY SPD and ENEMY BULLET SPD

Read every percentage as a multiplier on a 100% baseline — 115% DAMAGE means your hits land 15% harder than the default. Line by line:

  • DAMAGE, RELOAD, KNOCK — how hard you hit, how fast your weapon cycles, and how far enemies get pushed back.
  • BLOOD, MONEY, MAGNET — how much blood and gold you collect and how far pickups get pulled toward you.
  • MOVE SPD, JUMP HEIGHT, JUMPS — your traversal. JUMPS is a count, not a percentage: Gun Man starts at 1, and the Bone Shop sells an item literally called Jumps.
  • SLOW / BURN / FREEZE / ZOMBIE CHANCE — the odds that your hits apply that status. They sit at 0% until an upgrade gives you the effect.
  • ENEMY SPD, ENEMY BULLET SPD — modifiers on the enemies' side. The Bone Shop's Slow Enemies item, earned for killing Bone Snake in under 30 seconds, is the obvious example of something that moves these numbers.
  • LUCK — the one line nobody can fully explain. See below.

Patch v2026091401 fixed scaling problems with More Bullet Time, More Blood, and More Money. The official notes do not publish the old or corrected values, so do not rely on multiplier values recorded before this patch.

Steam patch v2026091805 changed several current mechanics without publishing hidden values. More Blood upgrades now multiply their effects instead of adding them, and knockback was reworked. Bling Ring can apply a temporary blind status that makes enemies move in random directions instead of targeting you. Doom Ring can apply doom, which kills affected enemies after 10 seconds; bosses are immune. Coin Magnet now pulls in all money every 30 seconds.

What does Luck do in Blood Dungeon?

Honest answer: Messhof has never said. The Blood Dungeon Luck stat sits on the stat panel between MONEY and MAGNET, so it clearly scales with something, but no official text describes its effect, and none of the 45 achievement conditions mention it.

The strongest lead is Lucky Chests, a Bone Shop item unlocked by the achievement "Reach level 15 as Baby" — only 0.8% of players have it. The name suggests luck interacts with chests somehow, but that's an inference from the name, not a confirmed mechanic. If a patch or the developers ever spell it out, this section will be updated.

What does the Defibrillator do?

"Blood Dungeon defib" is one of the most-searched questions about the game, and again the official answer stops at the unlock condition: "Have 10 zombies at once with Zombie Ring". Zombie Ring is the upgrade that spawns zombies for you, so the Defibrillator is earned by leaning into a zombie build.

Its actual effect is not described anywhere official. The clues are all in the naming, though: a defibrillator restarts hearts, the Candlemaker achievement asks you to "come back from the dead", and Life Insurance is the other revival-flavored Bone Shop item. Read together, the Defibrillator is almost certainly tied to reviving after death — but treat that as the obvious reading of the evidence, not a confirmed fact.

Brittle Boost: what we know

The October 1 Steam v2026093002 patch provides the first official reference: Yung Venuz receives a brittle boost every five levels. The notes do not describe what that boost changes or give a number, so its actual effect remains unknown.

Dodge and Boiling Veins

The same Steam patch confirms two defensive additions. Dodge gives you a chance to avoid all damage from a hit; upgrading it raises that chance, and Luck does not affect it. Boiling Veins prevents an explosion from killing you, but it does not negate explosion damage: the hit can still reduce you to one heart. No exact Dodge percentages or unlock conditions were published, and the patch is not confirmed for the console versions.

Blood, Gold and Bones: the three currencies

The official pitch is "Collect Blood, gold, and bones to increase your powers", and each one works differently:

  • Blood raises your blood level during a run, which is what triggers the 3-card level-up offers.
  • Gold is the in-run currency shown as $ on the HUD — you can spend it to reroll a bad level-up offer.
  • Bones are the out-of-run currency you spend at the Bone Shop on permanent upgrades.

Beyond the stats

A few more Blood Dungeon mechanics are fully confirmed and worth knowing: enemies arrive in waves tracked on the bottom-left counter; some doors are marked "NEEDS 🔑" with colored keyholes, and timer gates exist; you can climb ladders, chains and vines; weapons can be recovered from drop sites; and there's a Daily Run with its own unlock.

If you're just starting out, the getting started guide walks through the core loop. For everything the Bone Shop sells, see Bone Shop and quests, the achievements and trophies guide covers the hardest unlock conditions, and best builds shows what strong runs actually look like.
